It's Mother's Day in Middleton (as if the title wasn't enough of a hint). Wade treats his mom to a vacation...in the privacy of their home. All Mrs. Stoppable wants from Ron is to clean out the garage. Kim gets to assist Mrs. Dr. Possible on a procedure, but the unthinkable happens: a mission pops up. It turns out that Drakken is after an experiment being transported by train. (As it happens, his mother stops by the lair for a visit.) Kim did promise to spend the day with Mom, so guess who goes to save the day.

I found this episode so-so. Don't get me wrong; it was nice to see the mothers of Team Possible, and you should be on the lookout for a hilarious reference to "Tetris", but the action plot kinda lagged. Also, the whole bit with the garden gnome seemed like one more excuse to get Ron neurotic.

However, the biggest problem I had here was Mama Lipsky. In all the time I've watched the show, I've not found a character that was as much the opposite of funny as her. Some people may have liked her overly doting nature and her naivete at her son's true intentions, but to me, they were unending sources of irritation. What's more, she's too derivative, not only of Mrs. Costanza on "Seinfeld", but (less obviously and more damagingly) Estelle Getty's character in Stop! or My Mom Will Shoot! Simply put, she's not the funniest character Estelle Harris has played. In fact, she's not even the funniest character Miss Harris has played on a Disney Channel animated series; Lula the Enchanted Sword on "Dave the Barbarian" is much, much funnier.

Somehow, I think a card, some flowers or chocolate make for better gifts this "Mother's Day."
