| A Batman-like former actor uses Ron to carry the furry mantle of the Fearless Ferret. Ron battles the stinky skunk supervillain White Stripe in costume, only to discover that his mentor is a phony. |
|
Villain: White Stripe
Animation Production by: Starburst Animation Co., Ltd
Aired in the UK Tuesday 3rd September 2003.
This episode is very similar to Will Friedle's old show "Batman Beyond". He plays a character that picks up the role of Batman, just like Ron picks up the role of the Fearless Ferret.
Working title: "The Fantastic Ferret" |
|
| Ron: (after Kim has removed his mask) That is so not cool to do to a superhero!
Ron: Can't I just sit around and listen to you, y'know, reminisce about the good old days?
North: Eat snowballs!
Ron: (To Rufus) Was that something he used to do in the good old days or something he wants me to do now?
Ron: This is my friend, Kim Possible; she's wily.
North: Wily, eh? Sounds like the Ferret Girl. Quickly, don this costume!
Kim: Uh... thanks, no. I don't get the whole superhero-secret identity thing.
Ferret Fan 1: What kind of costume is that?
Ferret Fan 2: White Stripe, one of the lesser villains, played by Rudolph Farnsworth, he appeared only in episode 14.
White Stripe: Who you callin' "Lesser?"
Sign in front of hospital: Middleton Medical Center: Ask about our specials
North: Nice moves, kid. You sure you don't want to be Ferret Girl?
Kim: SO sure...
Ron: Umm... Mr. North, my tights seem kinda *loose* ...
Ron: I'm here to spread sunshine!
Mr. North: Spread it on someone who cares.
Ron (whining): C'mon, Mr. North, I won't get school credit if I don't lift your spirits with my youthful zest!
Ron: North is ACTUALLY smiling.
Kim: Guess he just needed some Ronshine in his life.
Ron: I'm a hero. It's what I do.
(Kim throws her arms around Ron.)
Kim: Way to go, hero.
Kim: Wade, are you sure Ron's pager is in THIS building?
Wade: Are you sure it's any of your business?
Kim: He's been acting funny. I just want to make sure he's okay.
Wade: Then yes, the trace is solid.
Ron: Dig it, citizens. Thanks to the Fearless Ferret, your streets are safe.
North: Just like the old days. Racing to the rescue.
Kim: Only in the old days...
North: I was an actor. In a TV show that got cancelled after two seasons.
Kim: Just reality checking.
Ron- Shrouded in shrubery, the fearless ferret prepares to pounce.
Ron [Hanging upside down from the ceiling]- Just think of me as...a friend.
Kim [Removing his mask]- Yeah, no duh! Ron.
Ron- That is so not cool to do to a superhero!
Ron- If somebody told you that I was just an ordinary teenage sidekick, somebody lied.
Ron- K.P, what's with the goofy face?
Dr. Possible- Rictis pyralisis. A sure sign of *dramatic music* Brain frost.
Ron: I am the Fearless Ferret, version 2.0. (of Rufus)And Wonder Weasel.
Kim: Um, I think it's great that you get to be all "ferrety".
Ron: Rufus, I think I'm having the most excellent geek dream ever.
North: Ready to go home crying?
Ron: No, no. I'm not like the others. I'm Ron Stoppable. I...um...can do anything.
MHS Sign: Sunshine Spreaders Super Special Students

| While riding in the Ferretmobile with North, Kim's eyes are briefly blue.
Nitpick: The Lowerton Lemurs football players look strangely similar to the Middleton High football players (identical jerseys).
When Kim says "Sorry Ron, the Fearless Ferret isn't real, it's -- well -- TV Trash" her mouth briefly disappears for a frame or two.
Timothy North comments on how his show was cancelled after two seasons (probably Adam commenting on Batman, which was cancelled after two and one HALF seasons; interestingly, that's the nitpick I have).
Ron says his "slight stigmatism" doesn't require corrective lenses (yet). "Stigmatism" is normal vision; "astigmatism" is more likely correct in this context.
When Ron first dons the Ferret costume, the cowl is attached to the rest of the costume, later as Ron hangs upside-down, Kim removes his cowl...which is not attached to the costume.
The overlapping sequence of the ropes binding Ron to the pole changes often.
When Kim and Ron walk outside the school, during Kim's "cable TV" line, what's normally gray on Ron's shoes is colored like his pants.
After the Ferretmobile zips out of the cave and the shot switches inside, we see Kim and Mr. North. The right side of the roof handle Kim's holding onto vanishes frequently during the first part of the scene.
In the final scene, when the execs collapse against each other, the bags under the female exec's eyes keep vanishing.
When the two conventioners spot Mr. North, the larger one on the right speaks with two different voices.
After Ron forces the skunk ballon through the door, it appears to be just as large as the building it's self. Why then, does it look so small when it's inside the building?
I know that it's a dream but-- In Ron's dream, he takes the brain of one of the doctor's too put inside Kim. But, that doctor had already been infected with brain frost--so why would putting the infected brain inside Kim's head do any good?
When Ron was captured it was night. When Ron is tied up in the building it is daytime.
^-- That doesn't even make sense. 1). That gas could probably hold Ron over for a long time. 2). We don't know exactly what time it was when Ron was bagged. Could've been two in the morning for all we know.
When Kim wakes Ron in the beginning of the episode, one of her *ahem* "features" is curved; but, after Ron says, "...unless it was the world's last hope...", it becomes angular(like it usually is).
NITPICK: You can only push a "novelty" so far until it wears thin. Once again, the roles of hero and sidekick are reversed. Kim (who's supposed to be tough and smart and resourceful) is demoted to hapless victim; she isn't even allowed to get the upper hand by using her much-advertised wits and athletic ability! Meanwhile, Ron (who's supposed to be dense and inept) grabs the proverbial spotlight and defeats the villain...ALL BY HIMSELF! Quite a few episodes of the series have been handled suchwise, with Ron easily (if not accidentally) succeeding where Kim has failed, so perhaps this one is an attempt at self-satire. Still, the producers really should make up their minds...Is Kim the hero and Ron the sidekick, or is it the other way around?
Okay, one more time, Perfectionist-maybe Kim and Ron aren't really sidekicks; maybe they're just heroes, so therefore, they get to save the day equally in their own unique way. Remember, in 'Return to Wannaweep', both Kim and Ron saved the day and they also do this in a lot more episodes. (See your other complaint about Kim in the 'A Very Possible Christmas' goofs for more of my opinion on your 'all-fictional-heroes-have-to-be-heroic-every-single-second' behaviour) |

Beginning of "Fearless Ferret" TV show
During the old 70's "Fearless Ferret" TV show's beginning credits, the part of Wonder Weasel was played by Weasel Wisinski. Wisinski is also the last name of KP's production supervisor Wade Wisinski.
DYN?
White Stripe's balloon-popping time bomb is exactly like Duff's balloon-popping time bomb in "Adventures in Rufus-Sitting"
DYN? #2
Pop culture
This is possibly the KP episode with the most pop culture references. In fact, the name Timothy North screams pop culture reference!
DYN #3
The worker at the grocery store (when Kim investigates the stolen onions, etc.) is the same person as the waiter at J.P Bearymore's Pizza Partytorium. They just changed his skin color.
DYN?
In the beginning after Kim wakes Ron from his fantasy dream, Ron says "......unless I'm the world's last hope or something". The phrase "Worlds last hope" is part of the opening credits, when Kim is being scanned, along with other phrases.
DYN?
Kim getting sprayed with White Stripe's stink spray is very similar to Kim's "stinking" of Shego in "Crush" with the kissy girl stinky lip gloss. And indeed their reactions were very similar: Shego: Ohhh, that stinks! Kim: Man, that stinks!
Ambiguous Justice
OK, usually, we see evil punished in some form or another. So, the question here is, why are the t.v. execs sprayed at the end with the stink gas? Ron stumbled on the Ferret Hole without ever seeing an episode of "The Fearless Ferret" on Trash T.V., the t.v. show had not been watched by either North or Farnsworth (hence, their failure to realize it was a show in the first place.) and yet, the t.v. execs are the ones who suffer. Also, Farnsworth has still committed crimes. The stolen, albeit stinky laundry, produce, and other items, were not his to take. Yet, he gets off free and clear.
Infinity Guy... Again.
Infinity Guy can be seen walking into the Bueno Nacho before Ron tries to get through the window. So much for non-fat turkey dogs! :)
Ron's Eyes
It shouldn't come as a surprise that Ron has an eye problem. Both of his parents have glasses!
"Just think of me as...a friend."
Someone already mentioned under "Cultural References" that Will Friedle---the voice of Ron---was also the voice of Terry McGuinness on "Batman Beyond." Friedle uses the McGuinness voice when Ron (in the costume of the Fearless Ferret) is hanging upside down and Kim asks him, "So...who are you supposed to be?" There's also a hint of "Batman Beyond" music in the background.
RE:Ambiguous Justice
This is probably an in-joke among those TV show career persons. The writer might want to tease those producers of TV Trash in real life. Which can considered to be a kind of crime and should be punished.
Ron: My eyes are perfect! Well, I mean, I have a slight stigmatism, but the doc
Actually, ferrets do have stigmatism, it's part of their sight adaptation to see objects in movement. They even have a point where they become blind to the objects(It's really near their face, but they can still smell the object)

Batman #1: Adam West
Adam West (voice of North) starred in the title role of ABC's campy 1966 Batman series.
Batman #2: Will Friedle
Will Friedle is also the voice of Terry McGuinness, Bruce Wayne's protege and successor in a future Gotham City in WB's "Batman Beyond" (1999).
Ron: If somebody told you I was just an ordinary teenage sidekick - somebody lied.
Ron imitates the title character of the 2002 hit, Spider-Man: "If somebody told you I was just your average, ordinary guy, not a care in the world, somebody lied."
None: Ron's Unmasking
The scene where Kim pulls off Ron's mask while he is hanging upside down from the ceiling is a near-recreation (stopping before the kiss) of the scene in Spider-Man where Mary Jane (also a redhead, I might add) pulls off the mask of an upside down Spider-Man.
None: "Trash TV" shows
Many of the shows featured on "TV Trash Heap" are parodies of old '70s shows. Mod Quad - "The Mod Squad," Laugh Riot - "Laugh-in" and The Fearless Ferret - "Batman" (kind of loses the rhythm with that one, doesn't it?).
None: Screw-off Skull Top
The scene in the hospital where the doctor unscrews the top of his head (and Ron with Kim) is an homage to a scene from the Steve Martin/Carl Reiner spoof The Man with Two Brains, where Steve Martin's character, Dr. Hfuhruhurr (it's pronounced like it's spelled) creates an identical method for performing quick, efficient brain surgery.
FerretPlane: While going up to the sky, reaching the moon
A nice little homage to the 1989 hit movie, Batman.
None: White Stripe pretending to be a woman in distress
Very similar to the scene in the 2002 hit Spider-Man, where the Green Goblin also pretends to be a woman in distress to capture his foe.
None: None
It may not be completely neccessary to point these out, but the button underneath the statue head and fireman poles are taken directly from the old Batman series, as is the scene where the Ferret Mobile exits the Ferret Hole (the folding-down barricade).
Ferret Fan 2: White Stripe, one of the lesser villains, played by Rudolph Farnsworth, he appeared only in episode 14.
The tone and attitude voiced by Ferret Fan 2 parodies the surly and sarcastic Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.
None: White Stripe's costume
The basic design of White Stripe's costume is very similar to a lesser Spider-Man villain, The Scorpion (though he appeared in two issues instead of one).
none: none
The Scorpion has appeared in far more than just two issues of Spider-Man, and I wouldn't describe him as a "lesser" villain. One of their encounters, drawn by legendary artist Todd McFarlane, has been reprinted in several Spider-Man trades.
none: none
Adam WEST played Timothy NORTH. Both of their last names are cardinal directions.
None: Farnsworth smashing the ferret bust
Farnsworth, while thinking about his arch-foe smashes a bust of the Fearless Ferret with a mallet. In The Emperor's New Groove the villain smashes several busts of the hero with a mallet in a similar fashion.
Timothy North: "But what about my bum leg?"
According to a 2003 A&E Biography episode, Adam West did in fact suffer a permanent leg injury. Unlike North who got it while being dragged kicking and screaming off the set, West got his from a post-series "Batman Stunt Show" during the early 1970's.
none: Kim and Ron's relationship
In this episode, Kim and Ron's relationship seems very similar to the relationship between Mary-Jane Watson and Peter Parker/Spiderman. Like Peter, Ron makes lame excuses to explain where he's going, when he's really saving the day as FF2. And, jest like MJ, Kim gets suspicious of her friend's behavior and wanders into trouble, only to be saved by her friend.
FF TV Show: Crocodile Man
In the Fearless Ferret opening sequence the Fearless Ferret punches out a crocodile man. A spoof off of the Batman villain the Croc Killer, perhaps?
Mrs.Dr.Possible: Rictis pyralisis...
This is a side effect of the Joker's killer laughing gas.
