| Kim and Ron's interests meet when a series of museum thefts are
tied to Ron's wrestling heroes. |
|
Villain: Jackie the Jackal
Animation Production by: Starburst Animation Studio
"Pop Pop Porter's Mini Corn Dogs":
Music and Lyrics by Randy Petersen and Kevin Quinn
First appearances of Monique, Pain King and Steel Toe.
Andrew "Test" Martin & Bill Goldberg are both pro-wrestlers in real life.
This epi and Coach Possible were aired in the order of their production numbers. A KP first.
First time we see Kim in a new set of street clothes. |
|
Ron: Wrestling is more than two guys beating on each other; it's also a war of words.
Pain King: You're going down!
Steel Toe: No, you're going down!
Pain King: No, you're going down!
Steel Toe: No, you're going down!
Kim: Yeah, they're poets.
Kim: And then, once, I was saving this desert prince from some stupid death squad, and the back of my skirt was totally caught in my underwear -- the whole time!
Monique: No... way.
Kim: I could've died! ... And he almost did.
Ron: Bear claw?
Monique: No, thanks. (laughs) I'm a vegetarian.
Ron: Um... I'm pretty sure it's imitation bear.
Kim: She's joking, Ron.
Steel Toe (of Rufus): Your gerbil's totally bald, man.
Ron: Yes. Thank you. (lifting shirt) Can I get an autograph? Could you make it, um, "To Ron"?
Jackie: I am... ALL-POWERFUL!!
Kim (dropped): Ouch! No duh!
Ron: Y'know, Rufus, I'm starting to notice a pattern; if I start doing my things, and Kim is doing her things, pretty soon we're doing different things!
Ron: Cleopatra, like anybody's gonna remember her 10 years from now...
Kim: OK, I'm in the mall, and I'm not shopping. What's wrong with this picture?
Guy backstage: Yeah, but when you think about it, golf is really a contact sport-
Ron: You'd rather see some dead queen's clothes than watch Steel Toe's Night of 100 Bruises with me?
Kim: My answer would have to be: Hello-o? Yea-ah.
Ron: I blame the smoothies.
Kim (at Club Banana): Hello~ Civilization.
Jackal: Tonight, the world will see the fearsome power of... The Jackal!
Ron (grabbed): I've seen, I believe!
Ron: These are backstage passes, you get to go backstage with backstage passes -- where the backstage is!
Kim: And hang out with some guy named "Steel Cage?"
Ron: Uh, K.P.? Steel Toe is a guy, Steel Cage is... well, a cage.
Ron: These are backstage passes! You get to go backstage with backstage passes! Where the backstage is!
Rufus: Hmmm, smoothies!

| Up until the point where Jackie gives Kim the tickets to see GWA, Jackie's eyes are white with black pupils. For the rest of the episode, his eyes are just plain black dots.
As Ron shouts "Steel Toe rules!" near the episode's beginning, the hinder portion of his left, inside cheek becomes fully transparent, revealing the background behind it.
"Anubis" is misspelled in the papyrus scroll's spell (which is written in English -- odd for an "ancient" Egyptian document, isn't it?).
Jackie's collar is gold (rather than black) as he first lifts the ancient papyrus.
Jackie's amulet is missing as he transforms into a jackal-headed avatar of Anubis
As the Jackal welcomes "all comers" to a no-holds-barred grudge match, his jaw cel drifts behind his head.
When Kim jumps onto Jackal's back, the area around his mouth is mis-colored for a cel to match the rest of his body.
The backstage passes Jackie gives Kim are solid yellow at first, but are depicted as two-toned and orange from the cafeteria scene onward (and, yes, I realize that one could be the underside, but the depiction is consistent before and after that point).
Monique's shirt is green as she and Kim first meet in Club Banana, but red as she checks the latter out of the store.
In the coffee house scene, Kim has a spoon in her cup, but when she gets up, the spoon is gone.
Since Monique just moved to Middleton, why would she get a job at Club Banana before even starting school there?
^ - Perhaps she worked at a different Club Banana and simply was transferred to the Middleton one when she moved.
When Jackie the destroys the Pain King banner in the crowd, the man in the bottom-right corner disappears for about 1 frame (right as the laser hits the banner).
Jackie makes note of wearing "open-toe sandals" before the transformation. The Jackal is barefoot, but he gets the sandals back after he changes back.
This may not truly be a goof, but whenever this episode airs up in Canada on Family Channel, the animation becomes narrow right after Kim fails to catch the thief.
Response to above: the reason the "animations gets narrow" is because, for some reason, Family Channel's copy of the episode switches to an anamorphic 16:9 version after the thief-fleaing scene (anamorphic meaning the image is stretched vertically to fit the whole 4:3 frame but displays properly at 16:9). |

DYN? #1
On the sack that held Ron's bear claw(s): "Donut-Y"
DYN? #2
The same exact looping crowd sequence that meets Jackie's "Are you ready for action?" is shown again later as Pain King and Steel Toe engage in a staged, promotional tussle.
DYN? #3
DYN? #4
Kim: I can't believe you and Ron have something in common.
True, Ron and Monique share a love of the GWA, but did anyone else notice that Monique roots for the archrival of Ron's favorite wrestler?
DYN? #5
The "eye beam" sequence used as Jackal severs Kim's grappler line is frame-for-frame identical to the one used as Jackal destroys the "Pain King" banner, only shortened, and flipped horizontally.
DYN? #6
This is the second time a Christy Carlson Romano character has had a friend named Monique (first on "Even Stevens").
Re: DYN? #3
That is also Adrena Lynn's cameraman from "All the News"
DYN? #7
When the twins and Ron are watching wrestling, the commercial that comes on is for Pop Pop Porters Mini Corndogs.
GWA's existence or lack thereof
How in the world does the GWA survive if Pain King and Steel Toe are the only two wrestlers around? (I'm not counting Jackie.) So far they're the only GWAers shown.
RE: DYN? #1
And ironically Kim, Ron, and Monique are part of generation-Y.
Ron: You'd rather see some dead queen's clothes than watch Steel Toe's Night of
Kim says a similar line in Steal Wheels. It really shows how Kim and Ron value each other's friendship.
Ron(to Kim):You're excluting me...
Ironically, Ron does the same to Kim in Steal Wheels. |

Professional Wrestling: Pain King and Steel Toe
The voices of Pain King and Steel Toe are Bill Goldberg (for the old WCW) and Andrew Martin (A.K.A. Test from the WWE). I don't know which is which, though.
GWA: Global Wrestling Association
This may seem obvious but I thought I'd mention it anyways: this is in imitation of the WWF; similarly, GJ in "Number One" is like a combination FBI/CIA. I'm sure there are more abbreviations like this in other episodes, too. Oh, by the way, does anyone who reads this site regularly know anything about wrestling? Are Pain King and Steel Toe supposed to be imitating anyone? More Info
Kim: "I think this is the beginning of a very weird friendship"
This closing line is very similar to the closing line of Michael Curtiz's classic b/w 1942 film ‘Casablanca': "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." More Info
none: GWA
GWA is more of a reference to NWA a group of small wrestling companies set up across the country with one champion being champion for every one of the companies.
